18th World Press Cycling Championships / WPCC 2017 in Bad Dürrheim / Black Forest

Race Regulations

Sauser Event GmbH in Villingen-Schwenningen (Germany) and the municipality of Bad Dürrheim are in the pleasant position to announce the holding of the 18th World Press Cycling Championships / WPCC 2017.

There will be 3 races: 

1) Friday September 29th: Individual Time Trial (ITT)
2) Saturday September 30th: Team Sprint (TS)
3) Sunday October 1st: Road Race (RR)

Races 1 and 3 are pre-see for 4 different categories:
M1 men 21-44 years old / 1996-1973
M2 men 45-59 years old / 1972-1958
M3 men 60+ / 1957 and older
W women

At the end of each race, the first 3 athletes of each category will be awarded. The first athletes with the WPCC title and the magic WPCC-jersey sponsored by Bioracer + gold, silver and bronze medals for 1 to 3 sponsored by the UCI as proud supporter of the WPCC.

Race 2, Team Sprint (new) only one category for teams of the same country or of the same editorial company such as like RAI, Eurosport, TOUR, Procycling etc.

Mix teams like the Czech Republic + Slovakia etc. or men + women are possible.

The time of the third rider is the end time. Only teams where all 3 riders reach the finish are listed.

At the end of the race, the best 3 teams with each 3 riders will be awarded. The first with the WPCC title and the magic WPCC-jerseys sponsored by Bioracer + gold, silver and bronze medals for 1 to 3 sponsored by the UCI as proud supporter of the WPCC.

Among all participating teams, 3 great Festina-Chronos will be raffled.

Editorial teams bear the name of the medium.
Country teams are listed in a simplified manner after the participants’ input, e.g. Italy-1, Italy-2, Italy-3, etc.
For mix teams always play the hymn of the first-named rider during the medal ceremony. Please note this when registering.

We ask the riders to start in the respective uniform team dress of their editorial company or country.

General participation rules:

Riders can start as long as they are journalists, reporters or press photographers or tv camera men. They can be employees or freelance reporters as long as they own a valid press passport of a country, an organization, a company or a medium. A confirmation from the employer or a print out of an imprint (newspaper, magazine etc.) will also be accepted. The races will be held under the UCI regulations.

Each rider confirms healthiness and ability to participate in these events. A daily license is not necessary.

Strongly recommended is an accident insurance
Participation is free of charge
Helmet is mandatory.

Types of Races:

Individual Time Trial (ITT)

Date: Friday 29th of September

Distance: 16 km.

Start: First start at 13.00h (t.b.c). After that, the participants start by 30 seconds.

Location: Start in Salinenstraße, D-78073 Bad Dürrheim / Finish line near tourist office

Race details: The profile of the course is light hilly / Motorized race stewards + neutral helpers accompany the race.

Important: Only continuous road racing bikes as the road race are allowed / Not allowed are time trial bikes as well time trial helmets and handlebar. All bikes will be measured 15’ before the start time.

Winner celebration: 19:00h at medal plaza in Bad Dürrheim / “Haus des Bürgers”, close to the finish line

Team Sprint (TS)

Date: Saturday ,30th of September.

Distance: 1.000 m.

Start: First start at 17:30h. After that, the other teams start by 3 minutes.

Location: Start and Finish line near Tourist office.

Race details: The profile of the course is flat. / Not allowed are time trial bikes as well time trial helmets and handlebar. All bikes will be measured 15’ before the start time.

Winner celebration: 19:00h at medal plaza in Bad Dürrheim / “Haus des Bürgers”, close to the finish line

Road Race (RR)

Date: Sunday, 1st of October

Distance: M1 + M2: about 87 km / M3 + W: 42 km.

Start: M1 + M2: 11.00h (t.b.c) and M3 + W: 12.30h (t.b.c.)

Location and circuit: M1 + M2: Start in Salinenstraße, D-78073 Bad Dürrheim / M3 + W: t.b.c.

Race details: circuit through the Black Forest countryside, range within several short hills and grades. Motorized race stewards + neutral helpers accompany the race.

Final celebration: 15:00h at medal plaza in Bad Dürrheim / “Haus des Bürgers”, close to the finish line

Registration

Each participant who registers in time gets a free starter pack.

Late registrations until one day before the race are possible.

Opening ceremony:

Date: Thursday 28th of September.

Location: Kurhaus Bad Dürrheim

Beginning: 19.30h

Race office/ The procedure of delivering the envelope

From Monday September 25th, there will be a registration desk at the tourist office building.

You will receive the envelope with the technical guide, the race numbers, the regulations, the maps and the chip for the bike. The delivery of this envelope will be given to those who will have already arranged their registration.

Please keep your confirmation of the registration. In case of a group, one representative can receive the envelopes by just showing the registration form.

Mechanical assistance and first aid

Mechanical assistance will be provided during all races. At least cars and motor cycles will be available to the participants. Additionally, the organization will provide a mechanic in the start and feed zones for assistance to the riders. First Aid groups will be in the feed zones and in some dangerous points there will be first aid members and ambulances. A first aid area is also going to lie in the start-finish area.

Note: It is advisable that you will indicate your name, your blood type, a telephone of a relative, and any intake of medicine somewhere noticeable on the number + name and address of the hotel.

General Rules

The organizing committee of the WPCC 2017 as well all Members of the WPCC-Committee disclaims any responsibility for the participants and their employees, in case of accidents or damage to persons or things, that may occur before, during or after the events and in case riders get involved in quarrelling with third parties.

Penalties / Disqualificatons

The organizing committee has the right to exclude riders who misbehave before, during or after the events. Additionally, nobody has the right to give his numbers or using someone else’s. In this case, he will be disqualified from the rest of the races. A rider must respect the start-finish area and the course routes, therefore, he must use the waste bins and avoid throwing rubbish in the course routes. Riders who do not show respect, will be disqualified.

Please try to help the organization and respect the procedure.

Regulation Changes

The O.C reserves the right to change the above rules, including the routes, due to technical or safety reasons. For matters that do not appear in these regulations, the O.C has the right to consult the rules of the Hellenic Cycling Federation and the UCI rules.

Signature

The participant registering with the official enrollment form confirms that s/he has read and agreed with the present regulation. Additionally, s/he confirms healthiness and ability to participate in these events. Finally, consensus for the use of photos or videos in which she / he may appear.
